Core to the ArchWell Health approach is to have a robust clinical care team focused on the needs of our members. Comprehensive Care Medical Assistants are responsible for delivering excellent and compassionate primary care and coordinating the care of our members with the broader healthcare delivery system. The Comprehensive Care Medical Assistants (CCMA) plays a critical role in supporting the CCACP’s day-to-day and ensuring efficiency in the care provided to members. CCMAs will work closely and collaboratively with the CCACP and teammates to greet and room ArchWell Health members. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing member’s health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing prior to and/or during appointments.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct prospective chart prep to request and upload records, screenings, and testing for the CCACP to address open care gaps for every member encounter.
- Conduct intake with members, measuring and recording vital signs, member interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring members are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure.
- Critically listen and engage with members throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in member conditions are reported to CCACP, and/or other clinical personnel.
- Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on member experience, including scheduling, processing of member phone messages, including returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; calling members to obtain and relay pertinent information for the provider personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with the CCACP and member’s assigned care team to facilitate effective continuity of care
- Maintain a high level of engagement and attend all training sessions and center meetings; demonstrate strong proficiency in Point of Care FOC screenings.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity, driven and focused work ethic.
- Self-starter with the ability to think creatively and work effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with various seniorities and diverse populations including staff, providers, members, family members, insurance carriers, vendors and market leadership.
- Strong communicator that is customer oriented.
- Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, and find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects.
- Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software, EMR systems.
- Ability to travel to centers within the market.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required.
- A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant.
- 6+months' phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
- EClinical Works or similar EMR experience.
- Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
